SAP Business One worldwide roll-out at RENOLIT

RENOLIT AG begins worldwide SAP Business One roll-out for its sales offices with SAP service provider UNIORG

Supported by UNIORG's SAP specialists,RENOLIT AG, a leading international manufacturer of high-quality plastic film and products, has successfully initiated the worldwide SAP Business One roll-out for its ten largest sales offices. Only six months into the project, the French sales location RENOLIT FRANCE SASU marks the starting point of the gigantic project, managed from the company's headquarters in Worms.

"Our objective is to equip all non-manufacturing sales offices with SAP Business One in the next two years, and to connect these to the two ERP systems installed for the group (QAD MFGPRO and SAP ERP)", explains RENOLIT Chief Information Officer Daniel Germani. "We'll thus create an integrated solution to simplify and tremendously accelerate numerous processes (e.g., orders at the factory, direct deliveries to customers, consolidated reporting) between our sales offices and the production plans, as well as the head office in Worms. We deliberately chose SAP Business One over the classic SAP system, largely because of the shorter roll-out period and the cost advantages."

The French branch was chosen to serve as pilot because it was best suited for template creation by reason of its very complex processes. Using this template as master, all subsequent SAP Business One installations can now be carried out over a much shorter period.

For UNIORG, the specificity of the French project consisted in creating an interface with the Unix-based MFG PRO Enterprise Resource Planning system, used by the Belgian and Spanish factories. Employees of the French offices now have direct access to the factory-based MFG PRO, where they create their orders. Thanks to the interface developed by UNIORG, these are then automatically transferred, along with all relevant data, to the SAP Business One system for processing. In addition, there will soon also be an interface, based on SAP NetWeaver B1l, to the SAP ERP 6.0 at Worms group headquarters. "In order to work as efficiently and quickly as possible, we selected a local SAP Business One to support the country-specific adaptations in financial accounting. This approach has already proven very effective in earlier projects, which is why we're going to continue using it for the next countries", concludes UNIORG manager Hans-Peter Kreft.

Among these are Poland and Italy, for whose RENOLITbranches the roll-out will proceed. "We've got loads of work before us", explains Germani,"but the high level of acceptance among users after the successful project in France already demonstrates that it's absolutely worth doing for the future of our group".
