SAP NetWeaver and Enterprise SOA with UNIORG

Integration and application platform

With the NetWeaver architecture, SAP Inc. focuses stronger support on a company's complex interconnected business processes. Under SAP's key concept of "Enterprise Service-Oriented Architecture" (Enterprise SOA), users, data and underlying business processes are no longer handled as a company's isolated added-value elements, individually performing their assigned tasks. Rather, they are efficiently combined beyond all organizational and technological limits. Enterprise SOA thus represents a fundamental concept for service-based business solutions, one offering a very high degree of adaptability, flexibility and openness.

SAP NetWeaver as a technological platform constitutes an exceptional tool with which to develop flexible and open-ended business solutions in heterogeneous IT landscapes. It makes it possible to precisely achieve the desired forward-looking and far-reaching coordination of processes and information. The realized cost benefits (e.g., no more need for point-to-point connections) will have a positive effect on the competitiveness of many companies, if this tool is applied intelligently.

From a technical perspective, SAP NetWeaver represents a restructuring of central infrastructure systems, such as portal, Web and application servers, also between different companies. What's novel is that these systems are now offered on a single integration and application platform. A further advantage: the open system architecture, which also features interfaces to Microsoft.Net and IBM WebSphere. This became possible by basing SAP NetWeaver on Internet standards such as HTTP, XML and Web Services.

SAP NetWeaver can thus be described as an open and flexible integration and application platform allowing complete company integration at all decisive levels. Via "People Integration", information and functions are assembled for the right person. Via "Information Integration", structured and unstructured information is made available in a consistent form accessible to the user. Finally, "Process Integration" allows efficient operation of data processing-based business processes, also in heterogeneous IT landscapes. Initially isolated applications are subsumed under these business-oriented generic terms.

With SAP NetWeaver Technology, a great number of business administration applications can be implemented in a very short time. The following practical examples afford some initial insights into the power of this technology.

  • Online shop applications on the basis of an SAP NetWeaver Application Server (WAS 6.40) for entry of customer orders with configurable and non-configurable positions on the Internet. Here, configuration parameters (including prices/pricing) are determined directly from the SAP variant configurator. This leads to markedly simplified article sales, as the customer, or the sales department employee of a subsidiary, can now place the orders directly.
  • Structure of various application templates (e.g., openTRANS, ebXML or CIDX) with data exchange via XML on the basis of the SAP Exchange Infrastructure (XI)

Based our many years of experience in the SAP environment and our close partnership with SAP Inc., we are confident that we can also successfully advise your company in the introduction and operation of these new technologies. What's more, as a ramp-up partner for SAP NetWeaver, we're always up to the latest information and hold the leading position in technological implementation.
